DETROIT – A stray dog is on its way to a new life after a Michigan State Police trooper rescued it from a freeway, police said.
On Wednesday, the Detroit Regional Communication Center received a call about a dog running along I-96, according to a news release from MSP Second District. Trooper Justin Boczkaja responded to the scene to search for the dog.
“Sure enough, the dog was located and asked for a ride,” police said.
In a photo posted with the news release, the dog can be seen in the front seat of the patrol car resting its head on Boczkaja’s arm.
The dog “asked to not be identified” and was taken to a local humane society where it will eventually become available for adoption.
“If you see any animals on the freeway, please don’t get out and try to catch them,” police said. “Give us a call!”
